Went to Albert’s place again last week. Love his home man..coolest house I’ve ever seen. Its in a small town on the outskirts of Barcelona, so we had to take a train there. But omg, it looked like a mini castle when we got there, four storeys high. Inside, it was like a museum/church/library. Im not kidding, he has got the widest collection of books I’ve ever seen, with shelves all the way to the ceiling. Stained glassed windows resembling those in cathedrals, antiques everywhere.. it was so awesome that we had to take a mini tour around his house. And jus when we thought the tour was over, he led us to the backyard and opened the backgate which led to a factory. His dad actually owns a friggin flour mill! His dad was nice enough to bring us on ANOTHER tour inside the mill. And it was actually more interesting than I thought it would be! It was almost like walking into willy wonka’s chocolate factory, cept its flour instead hah. But still, it was cool man.
In addition to all that, he even has a private park/mini forest all to himself where we brought his dog, troy for a walk. Im so in love with troy!

Las Ramblas

Francisco, Jordi (spain) & mike from london

Lazy blogger I am, so shall backtrack abit here, it was la merce last weekend, its this 4 day long street festival that goes on in Barcelona in Sept. They have like street concerts, I love the Spanish bands! Some cool music they got there. The streets were filled with people all day long, livening up the already lively streets of Barcelona. But the best part of the whole festival has got to be the fireworks display on the last day of la merce. Against the backdrop of the musical fountain at plaza espanya was this 40 min long non-stop fireworks display. It was most awesome, nothing like I’ve ever seen.

Ok IT happened today, we got PICKPOCKETED. Yes after hearing so many stories about pick-pocketing in Barcelona, it finally happened to us, well to mark actually. We were at our usual hangout place at the English bar watching soccer. It was slightly more crowded than usual today so we had to sit near the door. So there we were, drinking our beer, then suddenly this group of gypsies came prancing into the bar. They were like semi-dancing towards us, then suddenly this girl took some newspaper from her hand and rubbed it on mark’s face. Me and kriti were like staring there, too bewildered to do anything. After they left the bar, we STILL didn’t know that we were pick-pocketed. Until a few mins later we thought to ourselves, like y the hell did they come in and jus do that? Then mark checked his wallet and it was gone. *$&%^#(%*&#. They stole the wallet right under our noses! It was like right in front of me and I didn’t even see it! On hindsight, it was total stupidity on our part la. Seriously, how could we have not figured that they were after our money?! We were some more sitting there like goons not knowing we got picked. Argh, makes me pissed jus thinking back bout it. But oh well, like what they say, things like that gotta happen at least once.

Hah seems like we’re on some stroke of bad luck, cos jus yesterday, we were on our way home when we decided to buy half a dozen of beer from one of the illegal street vendors. There are tones of them along las ramblas. So we were sitting there happily with our beer when this guy came up to us and flashed us his cop ID. He thought we were trying to sell the beer and threatened to report us to the police. I was like, y catch us when there are like tones of them selling beer on the streets?! Then one of the vendor went up to him murmurred something in spanish then he left us alone. Later did we figured that he was actually a fake cop, part of the whole syndicate selling beer. He thought we were trying to steal his business, which explained y he tried to chase us away. Hah!

Crazy ass days.. fake cop, then pick-pockets, what’s next man..

Went to catch a soccer match on the first weekend here. Camp Nou was breathtaking man..with capacity of 110,000..i mean its like my first even LIVE soccer match, dont even talk about singapore vs indonesia in the finals of Tiger cup, the atmosphere is NOTHING compared to this. Caught the FC Barcelona vs Osasuna in the Spanish league, barca won of course hah 3-0. Tix cost me like 70 friggin euros, thats like 140 sing dollars man. machiam go watch concert hah. but i must say its pretty worth it, considering we sat like 50m away from the goal, plus the experience and all..
oh did i mention that i saw ronaldinho at the airport? hee
